Cookie policy

Last updated 9 October 2026

We use cookies that are needed to run the product: keeping a session, remembering that you are signed in, and storing a few UI preferences such as deep mode. They are first-party. Your browser’s own storage also keeps a question you ask while its page opens and while you sign in, so it is not lost.

We also use PostHog, hosted in the EU, for product analytics: to see how the site is used and make it better. It records the pages you visit, what you click (including the text of what you click), heatmaps of where you click, move and scroll, and session replays: recordings of how you use a page, including what it shows, such as your questions and their answers. Text you type into a field is masked in replays. It also counts product events such as sign-ups, sign-ins, questions asked (each question’s length and which number question it is for your account), answers finished and upgrades, records errors and page speed, and may show a short survey. When you are signed in and analytics may identify you (see below), it links this to your user id from Clerk, our sign-in provider, not your email.

For each answer our server sends PostHog the model used, how long it took, token counts, the estimated cost, the conversation id, whether it was quick or deep, whether it came from cache, and whether it failed, with the error status. It never sends the question or the answer text. This is sent for every answer, also in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland before you click Accept and after No thanks: then it is anonymous, carrying the conversation id but not your user id. It sets nothing on your device.

In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, PostHog does this only after you click Accept. Until then, or if you click No thanks, it only counts the pages you view and the product events above, without analytics cookies or storage on your device, without your user id, and with no clicks, heatmaps or session replays. Elsewhere all of it is on by default.

We also use Google Analytics, from Google, to count visits. It records the pages you view, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address), your device and browser, and the page or site that sent you here. Its advertising features and Google Signals are turned off, so it is not used for ads or to link your visits across devices. Its cookies are _ga and _ga_ followed by an id, kept for up to 2 years after your last visit. Google may process this data outside the EU, including in the United States.

In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets no cookies until you click Accept. Until then, or if you click No thanks, it only sends Google cookieless pings about the pages you view, such as when you open a page and when you leave it, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit. Elsewhere its cookies are on by default.

To change your choice, use the Cookie settings link in the footer at the bottom of our website pages, like this one. It forgets your earlier choice and asks again. Clicking No thanks withdraws your consent: PostHog and Google Analytics go back to working without cookies, and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. The choice itself is kept in a first-party cookie, raa_consent, for 12 months.

We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not drop trackers from ad networks.

You can block cookies in your browser. The site may then forget sign-in and preferences. Asking a question from the landing page still works.
